crux metabolismi

The exhibition CRUX METABOLISMI explores humanity’s impact on the global ecosystem and the traces it leaves behind. It focuses on the material relics of industrial civilization, highlighting their ambivalence between progress and destruction. Various media and techniques are combined to reflect on the fragility and persistence of human interventions in the environment.

The works draw on elements from urban structures, industrial landscapes, and consumer culture, translating them into new, alienated contexts. Using a deliberately post-vandalistic visual language, pieces emerge that oscillate between deconstruction and recomposition, raising questions about value, transience, and cultural heritage. Vandalism itself is also addressed — in the form of property damage, graffiti, protest, and illegal action art — as artistic expressions that challenge power structures in public space and question traditional concepts of ownership and aesthetics.

The exhibition is complemented by sculptures and objects made from recycled materials, as well as works focusing on the microstructures of industrial products.

CRUX METABOLISMI took place as part of the Heart of Noise Festival 2025 in Innsbruck and was shown at the Artspace Reich für die Insel. The opening was on June 21, 2025.

The exhibition was realized together with my partner Bertram Schrettl aka BerTRAM SchrECKlich.
