Each painting in this series was created using the blast-over technique. Originally derived from tattoo art, this technique involves overlaying unwanted designs with new ones, leaving the original partially visible. The existing design serves as the background, with traces of the old motif peeking through the gaps of the new tattoo.
For these works, older paintings were used as the base. I intervened in their content by overlaying bold, thick lines of retro comic characters rendered in acrylic. Most of these figures were supporting characters from 1930s animated films, rather than stars or main protagonists.
